MILLSTREET CAPTURE THRILLING U-12 HURLING TITLE
Millstreet lifted the Duhallow Under 12 Hurling Championship on a thrilling 3-5 to 1-9 victory over Croke Rovers at sunny Meelin last Monday. The county champions were forced to call on all their skill and resilience in a riproaring confrontation.From the outset, the contest had all the hallmarks of a cracker with Tadgh Moore pouncing for an early Millstreet goal. However Croke Rovers found their stride and a goal kept the issue open.
Millstreet’s response was emphatic and goals in quick succession by Gerard Cullinane and Alan O’Connor surged Millstreet ahead. Croke Rovers hit back on points to cut the deficit 3-1 to 1-4 at the interval.
Both sides picked up where they left off upon the restart with Croke Rovers hitting the offensive and a series of points reduced the margin to the minimum. Millstreet answered with points from the effective David McCaul but Croke Rovers continued to apply the pressure and Millstreet were glad to see a shot come off the post.
Overall the Millstreet defence offered stern resistance and at the opposite end, Millstreet took encouragement from a Michael Vaughan point to seal a narrow but deserved triumph.

JUNIOR B FOOTBALL SIDE REACH SEMI FINAL
Millstreet prevailed in a hard fought 1-9 to 1-5 victory over Kanturk in the Duhallow Junior B Football Championship quarter final played under lights in Millstreet.
Kanturk couldn’t have asked for a better start and goaled inside the opening minute and the visitors may well had goaled twice in the subsequent play with Millstreet custodian Mark Neville saving surperbly.
Millstreet answered on points to Sean Vaughan and Brian O’Connor yet they trailed 1-3 to 0-3 at the interval.
A much more determined Millstreet resumed for the second half a different side and mounted a strong comeback to yield points from Sean Vaughan, Garry Sheehan and Brian O’Connor. Kanturk offered a response and two points left the minimum between the sides before the issue was decided with a late penalty-a foul on Gerard McCarthy resulted on Sean Vaughan duly converting to goal and set up a meeting against Lyre in the penultimate hurdle on this Thursday night.

JUVENILE GAA FESTIVAL UNDER LIGHTS
Millstreet Juvenile GAA stage their annual festival of football, hurling and camoige on this Sunday evening in Millstreet Town Park with proceedings underway at 5.00pm.
Everybody is welcome to view the stars of tomorrow under lights and amongst the trophies to be competed for are the Kelleher and O’Connnor Memorial Cups.
