Fondest greetings dear listeners and I wish you all the very best on this the last Tues in June. and its raining, lovely soft rain.

First this morning I want to convey our deepest sympathy to our colleague Patricia Murphy and her family, on the recent death of her husband Johnnie, May he Rest in peace. He was of course the brother of the late Neily Murphy who was our ambulance driver here in Millstreet some years ago.

Here are the results of this weeks parish lotto draw which was held at Murphys Bar on Sun. night.

Numbers drawn were 8,11,14,21 and the jackpot was not won. €100 went to Ml. Kelleher ,Millstreet, the seller was Samantha Cleary at the Wallis Arms and she got €50 sellers prize. €50 went to Denis Guiney USA, €20 each to Mary Desmond Kilcorney, ML. A very enjoyable party was held at the Canon ODonovan on Thursday afternoon in honour of Mrs Hanna Luceys 100th birthday. A special mass was celebrated by Fr. Joe Murphy, and all her family members and many friends were there . The mass was followed by food and drinks and a social evening. Hanna cut the lovely birthday cake and posed for countless photos, and then to her surprise and joy the door opened and in came Liam & Lisa OConnor plus a real live tall slim Lord of the Dance dancer. They entertained the crowd for an hour ,then posed for more photos with Hanna and then they were away. Well done to the organizers for that lovely touch.

The annual mass at St Johns well was very well attended on Thurs night. The weather was favorable but the midges ready and waiting for their annual feast on the throngs of victims who had no option but to grin and bear it.

On the same night the children of Kilcorney national school put on a charming rendering of the Wizard of Oz at the Millstreet Country Park.

A notice here from our local Library to say that a puppet Show suitable for children from the age of four upwards will be held there this Fri, July 2nd at 3pm. and all are welcome. And on the following FRi. they will have a craft workshop suitable for 8 to 13 yr olds. Given by Bernie ORiordan of Cork Textiles it is entitled Knot, Knit and Paint the Earth. Its limited to 16 youngsters so its advisable to book. The number of the library is 029 21920,

And by the way our library is closed every Mon. Opened Tues to Sat 10am to 6 closed from 1 to 2.30 for lunch.

Our Muileann Og Project who provide care and entertainment for children outside of school are now taking bookings for the summer months. contact Marie at 029 21869. Activities include Sports, Drama Cooking, art and lots more.

And The Millstreet GAA are running a Summer Camp from July,12th to the 16th. Fee €40 for 8-16 yr olds. Must be a member of the Pitch N putt Club. Contact John FitzGerald Minor Row, Mary FitzGerald Killarney Rd or Eilleen Cotter. But hurry the closing date is this fri July 2nd.

And of course our Town Park is open every day ,complete with spacious car park, a free childrens play ground , twin tennis courts, Pitch n Putt coarse, two games pitches, encircled by state of the art exercise track. All users are asked to keep the area clean and litter free.

Its that time of years when we are all asked to get together now and clean up to prepare for the National Tidy Towns competition, sponsored by Super Valu stores. If there is an eyesore near you please do your part and remove it.

Golf Over 300 golfers took part in the Captains prize at Kanturk on Sun. This years Captain being outr popular ex-garda Silvie Murphy. Over all winner was Sean Hussey Kanturk, Winners from Millstreet were Ml. Dennehy, and young Niall Buckley Dooneen.

Macroom Faith n Light Group will have their annual Mass at Tubrid Well on July 17th.
